GGU Mens and Ladies Player of the Year

President Lynne Coutanche presented the GGU Men’s & Ladies Players of the Year.

In 2023 Veronica Bougourd was crowned Island Champion for the 20th time having first won it in 1979. This year she went on to win the CI title for the first time since the early 2000s.

Jamie Blondel’s gritty week in July saw him win team gold and individual silver in the Island Games. His round of 67 in truly awful conditions was no doubt one of the finest rounds L’Ancresse Links has ever seen. He was also the winner of the 2023 L’Ancresse Open Scratch Salver.

GGU Annual Presentation : Presidents Awards

The Presidents awards were presented to James Troop, Noah Davy, Tanner Austin and Conor McKenna.

James had a stellar season away from home; winning the Royal Birkdale Junior Open and Blacknest Junior Open.

Noah Davy (apologies given & his father Mich picked up the award) successfully retained the UV trophy. To win a four round competition is really impressive and two years on the bounce is incredible.

Tanner Austin was a star player in this year’s Scratch League and went unbeaten while representing La Grande Mare. He also had two big wins in the Junior Inter-Insular.

Conor McKenna finishes the season as Guernsey’s best handicapped player at +3.2. Winner of the Le Riche Trophy which required two of his many under par rounds from this season. He made his Guernsey Men’s Team debut this year and won 2/3 points at La Moye.
