Presidents Welcome

As the new president of the GGU, on behalf of myself and the full committee, I extend a warm welcome to you all. My name is Lynne Coutanche, and I have played golf for 22 years, first of all as a member of La Grande Mare Golf Club being Lady Captain in 2004 and a member at The Royal Guernsey since 2009.

I have been on the Committee of the GGU for 18 years and became President in late 2021. I have watched many Island Championships and Channel Island Championships both in Guernsey and Jersey. Unfortunately, haven’t yet played in one, but you always need a goal!

For those of you who don’t know me, I look forward to meeting you at some point in the near future.

Covid had a negative impact on many areas of life in both 2020 and 2021, with golf being no exception. However, in 2021 we were very lucky in Guernsey to be able to compete at club and island level. It was great that the Challenge Match which is the Mens Inter-Insular, was able to take place at Royal Jersey. Unfortunately, we lost the match (12-8) but it was great to see competitive golf at its very best. I am sure you will join with me in hoping that 2022 sees a full competitive diary.

I hope you will all give your support to both the team and individual events we have planned for this year, along with the individual Matchplays.

We represent all golfers on the island and are here to assist you in any way you see fit, so please do not hesitate to contact myself or any committee member if you think we can help.

To finish, on behalf of myself and the committee, we wish you a year of good health coupled with great golf and look forward to seeing you on our member courses throughout my term.
