What is the Guernsey Golf Union?

The Guernsey Golf Union (GGU) is a cooperative union acting for the benefit of all the Members of the Affiliated Bailiwick Guernsey Golf Clubs. Our aim is to promote and support amateur golf at all levels including men, ladies, seniors and juniors, by way of competitions and by providing opportunities to improve. 

Our committee is made up of President, two Vice Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary, along with Club Representatives from each section of the affiliated clubs.

All of the roles are done on a voluntary basis with no positions receiving any monetary benefit. 

The GGU is responsible for representing Guernsey Golf in general and in particular, represent Guernsey Golf with the Guernsey Sports Commission, the Guernsey Island Games Association, the Inter Island Representative Golf Committee, the Channel Islands Ladies Amateur Golf Championships, the Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands Golf Union and the Hampshire Ladies Golf Association plus any other association/organisation as the GGU considers desirable. 

The GGU is responsible for the organisation and running of the GGU membership along with the following events: 

1. The Team Open Event

2. The Bailiwick of Guernsey Men’s Amateur Golf Championship

3. The Inter Island Men’s Amateur Golf Championship Final

4. The Inter Island Men’s Challenge Trophy and the Guernsey Men’s Team

5. The Bailiwick of Guernsey Ladies Island Championships

6. The Inter Island Ladies Amateur Championship Final

7. The Inter Island Ladies Challenge

8. The Guernsey Ladies Golf Team

9. The Inter Island Senior Men’s Challenge Trophy & the Guernsey Seniors Team

10. The Bailiwick of Guernsey Senior Men’s Amateur Golf Championship

11. The Inter Island Men’s Senior Amateur Golf Championship Final

12. The Inter Island Junior Challenge Trophy and the Guernsey Junior Team

13. The Bailiwick of Guernsey Junior Amateur Golf Championship

14. The Inter Island Junior Amateur Golf Championship

15. The International Island Games Golf event, when held in Guernsey

Plus other events promoted by the GGU or for the development of golf in the Bailiwick

We actively take an interest in and support all levels of Junior Golf, including the Primary Schools Programme, funded in conjunction with the Sports Commission and the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation; along with supporting the Ladies Golf Development Squad.
